Prestige Bilingual School

School & Home Partnership

Parents & Teachers

Children grow best when home and school move in the same direction. That is why Prestige Bilingual School keeps the conversation with parents going all year, and looks after the quality of its teachers through development programmes that never really stop.

  • Teachers who keep learning
  • Parents who are involved
  • A two-way conversation

We meet every week

Tea Talks, Parents Club, and home visits keep families close to how their child is doing.

Teacher Quality Assurance

Teachers who never stop learning

A school is never better than its teachers. So every Prestige educator follows a scheduled development programme - reading and writing each week, reviewing their teaching at the end of every semester, and bringing what they learn from outside training back to share with their colleagues.

  • Teacher development session: Cajilis

    Cajilis

Our method for growing teachers' professional competence and literacy through reading, presenting, and writing. Held every week, it begins with each teacher reading a book of their choice, presenting it in a discussion forum, and then turning the reading and discussion into a written article.

  • Teacher development session: Development of Teaching Proficiency (DTP)

    Development of Teaching Proficiency (DTP)

A regular teaching-proficiency programme held twice a year, at the end of each semester. Internal DTP is run by Prestige teachers themselves, while external DTP brings in colleagues from partner schools across Indonesia - and doubles as a space to evaluate the teaching that has just taken place.

  • Teacher development session: Prestige Belajar

    Prestige Belajar

A programme born from a simple conviction: a teacher is a lifelong learner. The material covers English, Turkish, and Japanese, learning administration, assessment, a range of teaching approaches and methods, and even classroom ice-breakers.

  • Teacher development session: Education and Training (Diklat)

    Education and Training (Diklat)

Beyond in-house training, Prestige Bilingual School sends its teachers and staff to education and training run by other institutions, keeping their skills and professional competence genuinely current.

  • Teacher development session: Dissemination

    Dissemination

A regular session where teachers who have just attended external training present what they learned back to their colleagues. It keeps knowledge and experience rising evenly across the whole teaching team.

This cycle runs through every academic year - it is not a one-off.

Parent Engagement

Parents belong inside this school

One of our missions is to grow the part parents play in their children's education. In practice that means teachers visiting your home, parents having clubs of their own, and a conversation with the school that stays open every single week.

Prestige Bilingual School parents taking part: Home Visit
Start of semester & mid-semester review

Home Visit

Teachers schedule home visits in turn, at the start of the semester and again at the mid-semester review. These meetings let teachers and parents talk directly about how a child is developing, both at home and at school.

What you get

You get the whole picture of how your child is developing - not just the numbers in a report book - and a face-to-face conversation with their teacher.

Prestige Bilingual School parents taking part: Parents Club
Once a week

Parents Club

A space for Prestige parents to follow their own interests. There are sports clubs for futsal, badminton, and cycling; a language club in the form of Turkish Club; plus cooking and sewing clubs. Sessions run once a week - good for health, and even better for friendships between families.

What you get

You stay active, keep up an interest of your own, and get to know the other families whose children share a classroom with yours.

Prestige Bilingual School parents taking part: Parents Webinar
Regularly, online

Parents Webinar

Regular webinars for parents, led by speakers who genuinely know their field. Because the format is online, parents can join from wherever they are and pick up knowledge that makes them more confident in their role.

What you get

Parenting knowledge from speakers who genuinely know their field, joinable from home or from the office.

Prestige Bilingual School parents taking part: Tea Talks
Once a week

Tea Talks

Tea together and an unhurried conversation among Prestige parents, held once a week. The aim is closeness and a shared understanding between families and the school in supporting how our children grow.

What you get

An unhurried space to give the school your feedback directly and line up how you and we support your child.

Every policy and guideline in one place

The Parents Handbook sets out the academic and non-academic guidelines at Prestige Bilingual School - from the uniform rules to how you reach your child's homeroom teacher. Still have a question it does not answer? Message us on WhatsApp.

What Parents Say

Stories from the families who trust us with their children

Four parents, in their own words, on what it has been like to raise their children alongside Prestige Bilingual School.

  • Assalamualaikum. I would like to share the remarkable experience of my daughter, who is currently studying at SD Prestige Bilingual School, Medan. Calista started here in kindergarten, when she was only four years old, with all the behaviour and ways of thinking of any child that age. She was shy, found it hard to mix with new people, and was afraid to say what she thought. All of that slowly changed. Her teachers were patient in teaching her and in developing her sensory and motor skills, and they never neglected her ability to manage her emotions. Prestige School walks alongside every stage of a child's development at the pace that suits their age. It does not force learning targets that leave a child under pressure, yet it is consistent in growing a child's intelligence. So far, as a parent, I feel my daughter is learning comfortably and happily, because she is surrounded by teachers who are able to teach from the heart and guide children towards real understanding.Read the full story

  • On a friend's recommendation, I visited Prestige Bilingual School, which is not far from where we live. What drew me in was the home visit programme at the start of the semester and the mid-semester evaluation. Through those meetings we learn how our child is developing at school. On top of that, the children are guided by teachers who are, masya Allah, extraordinarily patient, quick to answer questions and always ready to make things easier for parents. To me, Prestige Bilingual School is a complete package. It is not only the children who learn; parents are invited to learn too, through Zoom seminars with genuinely capable speakers. That is a real help for parents in supporting their children. Beyond the convenient location and the welcoming atmosphere, the children are taught manners and courtesy as well as several short surahs. As a bilingual school, alhamdulillah, there are now a number of English words my daughter understands. The school also makes room for children to bring out their interests, talents, and potential. Continued success to Prestige Bilingual School.Read the full story

I believe that Prestige Bilingual School is the best school which can educate and guide the students becomes excellent in all field. There are various of school programs like extracurricular, parents club, parents webinar, super camp, field trip, Prestige charity, changing point, and there are so many competition and celebration of national days too. • Prestige Bilingual School is one of the good schools in Medan and it has many strengths. First, Prestige is a child-friendly school. Here students are given room to learn and create in line with their own interests and talents. Second, Prestige has many excellent programmes, such as building literacy from an early age; personally I appreciate this a great deal. Third, Prestige does not only develop cognitive ability but also instils character, for example through the SEL (Social Emotional Learning) subject. Fourth, Prestige keeps up good communication with parents about their children's development. The school schedules home visits in turn, so that teachers can speak directly with parents about how a child is doing at home and at school. For all these reasons, I chose Prestige Bilingual School as the place for my children to be educated into an outstanding generation. May Prestige Bilingual School always give its very best.Read the full story
